Is it normal for the water to come out dirty/gray after installing the filter? Yes, that is normal. The filter contains a carbon block which may release loose carbon particles during shipping. By draining 2-3 gallons, the water will become clear.
After installing a new filter element, the water flow rate is slower. What should I do? Don't worry, the filtered water is cleaner. We use activated carbon from Sri Lanka, which has uniform-sized honeycomb holes that effectively intercept particles in the water.
Is this filter an exact replacement for the GE XWF, certified as NSF 42, 53, and 401? Yes, it is certified NSF 42 and IAPMO certified.
What is the difference between this product and the XWFE? This product does not contain a chip, so it cannot replace the XWFE. However, you can find related methods on YouTube to replace it.
